Following a customer request, we have carried out successful tests with fisheye lens on our smart traffic sensor.
The idea of using a fisheye lens on our smart sensor is to get an even wider field of view.
For parking applications, for example, there are requests from customers that we should be able to detect vehicles that are in pocket parking lots along a distance of 50 meters.
To be able to see the vehicles furthest away, the fisheye lens provides an optimized wide field of view, which means that we can place a sensor in the middle of a stretch of road with a vision of 25 meters in both directions at the same time while having a lower installation height.
This wider field of view means that we could minimize the number of sensors also in other contexts such as traffic counting.
